Abby Lee Miller was born on September 21, 1965 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She started dancing at a young age and opened her own dance studio at the age of 14. She has attributed her success to the strict training and discipline that she received from her own dance teachers. Abby became a controversial figure in the world of dance after her reality TV show "Dance Moms" debuted in 2011. The show documented the lives of young dancers in her studio and their pushy mothers. Abby was known for being tough and demanding, often yelling at her students and their parents. Despite the criticism, Abby's show became a huge success and ran for eight seasons. In 2017, she was sentenced to serve one year and one day in prison for bankruptcy fraud and has since been released.
